POSITION PURPOSE

The Project Controls Specialist position will support the Project Manager and all project team members with sufficient data and insights to support the execution of projects in a timely and efficient manner.

The Project Controls Specialist position will be involved in all phases of the industrial project engineering and construction phases, including support to business development, engineering, procurement, construction, startup, and commissioning.

This position performs Project Control functions related to cost and/or schedule and assists in the preparation of Project Controls activities for a project or business development initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Prepare the Project Work Breakdown and Project Coding Structures for control and integrity of work to be performed as defined by the contract.
  • Assist in the development and compile the project budget, schedule, scope of work, and required documents.
  • Develop cost control/scheduling procedures, execution plan, and business plan for a project.
  • Support the Project Manager in managing project schedule and budget. Through consistent budget and schedule updates, establish an understanding of any critical issues. Using knowledge of construction workflow to develop solutions for critical issues.
  • Participate in weekly project cost/schedule reviews meetings
  • Develop and implement a basic change management system for engineering and construction
  • Develop and maintain Management, Project and Control level schedules
  • Identify trends and deviations and recommend corrective courses of action
  • Maintain the established project cost/schedule program and prepare cost/schedule status reports
  • Coordinate the review of Project Profit/Risk Analysis with management and provide status reporting
  • Participate in the change management process
  • Provide meaningful, accurate historical data
  • Analyze data and proactively seek resolution to variances from the project baseline
  • Support the Project Manager and Field team in all aspects of the project execution as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Work with the Project Manager, Division Leaders in the project, and Customer representatives to provide the most accurate forecast to complete the project on a weekly basis.
  • Support Project Team, Division Leaders, and Customer to ensure accurate and timely project deliverables.
  • Support Engineering Division Leaders in the process of resource loading and forecast to ensure the project will have the appropriate level of labor for the production of Project Deliverables.
  • Support the Project Team by providing input on forecast and critical activities on Vendor Approvals.
  • Provide weekly reporting on the status of vendors submittals, equipment and materials delivery to the
    successful completion of the project.
  • Utilize ICM’s ERP system to update Project costs/schedule forecasts.
  • Support the process of reviewing vendor and subcontractor invoices and payment applications to ensure they are submitted in accordance with the terms of each applicable agreement.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports to track project progress, including man-hour tracking and rental equipment tracking.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable communicating with both leadership and staff employees in order to create and administer policy as well as foster a collaborative culture within the organization.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (no specific discipline)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years of industrial project engineering experience required (preferably in the field)
  • Microsoft Project experience required
  • Primavera P3 experience preferred
  • AutoCAD experience preferred

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Understand construction terminology and methods of construction
  • Read and understand civil, structural, mechanical, and architectural drawings
  • Read and understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Understand basic procurement processes and procedures
  • Possess excellent computer skills utilizing MS Office products
  • Possess strong strategic, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Interact professionally and effectively with senior management
  • Maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Use tact and diplomacy and possess a customer service focus
  • Possess excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Up to 20% travel required or as needed. International travel required.
