POSITION PURPOSE
The Estimator position will work closely with both the business development and operations teams to develop project estimates. The individual will participate in identifying estimating improvement techniques and methodologies to help ICM respond to our customers in a timely manner and provide cost-effective estimates.
In this role, the individual will develop estimates for services related to Consultancy, Engineering and Site Supervision, Equipment Supply estimates as well as full project implementation estimates, taking into consideration execution strategies related to EPC or EPCM scopes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Learn and improve the current estimating process utilized by ICM by utilizing standardized methodologies and best practices.
- Develop the estimate plan and coordinate estimate development with the project team, including preparation of the Estimate Schedule.
- Provide high-quality estimates to the estimate reviewers in a timely manner, in which the information is reconcilable to source data
- Be fully familiar with the use and purpose of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS); utilize assigned WBS in developing estimates.
- Understand the Work Flow Schedule and how it integrates with the Work Breakdown Structure for capturing time. Maintain the Design Time Standards updating as resources efficiency changes.
- Develop an understanding of conceptual estimating theories and techniques.
- Assist in converting the final estimate into a final project budget to turnover to the project team.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager for building the deliverables schedule based on Workflow deliverables estimate.
- Coordinate information exchange among the Business Development, Engineering, Purchasing, and Construction Supervision Teams.
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with best practices, organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support the Project Manager and Field Management team in all aspects of the project that might be related to the project’s estimate.
- Have a fundamental role in the development of project budgets, schedules and scopes of work.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable communicating with both leadership and staff employees in order to create and administer policy as well as foster a collaborative culture within the organization.
- Stay abreast of current estimating techniques by maintaining expertise through the numerous opportunities provided by professional organizations or by networking with other estimating specialists within the engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/EPCM industry).
- Be knowledgeable about industrial construction industry rates to be applied in estimates.
- Be active in knowledge management portals and communities with regard to forum questions and
discussions. - Be knowledgeable about the benefits of Cost Competitive Execution, Business Risk; actively promote innovative ideas and solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (no specific discipline required)
- AACEi Certified Cost Professional Certification is desirable
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 4 years of estimating of industrial projects experience required
- Microsoft Project experience preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Understand construction terminology and methods of construction
- Read and understand civil, structural, mechanical and architectural drawings
- Read and understand Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Understand basic procurement processes and procedures
- Possess excellent computer skills utilizing MS Office products
- Possess strong strategic, analytical and organizational skills

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 10% travel required or as needed. International travel required.
